school of the project was inaugurated by Honorable Lt. General Shaheen Mazhar Mahmood, Commander 11 Corps, Peshawar in March 2019.
According to PC-II of the project, South Waziristan is the largest District in the erstwhile FATA region and 4th largest in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by
area. It borders Afghanistan, Baluchistan and three districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. There is no university in South Waziristan and its adjoining districts including Zhob, Sherani, Musakhel of Baluchistan, North Waziristan and Tank of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and adjoining areas of

The Education City project is a transformative initiative, aimed at addressing the educational void in these underserved regions, expanding educational access, enhancing programs, adapting to local needs, and bolstering research capacity. It envisions a comprehensive educational ecosystem, from primary schools to universities, including technical, professional, and medical colleges. Furthermore, the city is poised to host campuses of national and international institutions, thereby attracting students from across Pakistan and abroad, making it a hub for knowledge and education.
This visionary project not only represents a critical stride towards educational development but also seeks to redefine Waziristan's identity. It shifts the region's historical reference from one associated with conflict and instability to one centered around knowledge and education. In a
Global context marked by the challenges of terrorism and extremism, the Waziristan Education City is a beacon of hope, symbolizing the transformative power of education in fostering a brighter future for this historically significant region and, by extension, for Pakistan as a whole.
MWA's ambitious vision for the Waziristan Education City has propelled the organization to proactively engage with various educational institutions and advocate for their participation in this transformative endeavor. This proactive outreach extends to different forums, including parliamentary engagements, where MWA is actively working to contribute to the realization of this visionary dream. The response from these institutions and forums has been notably encouraging, underscoring the potential and significance of the Waziristan Education City as a catalyst for education, empowerment, and progress in the region. MWA's dedicated efforts in this regard reflect its unwavering commitment to fostering positive change and opportunities for the communities it serves.
